He is currently completing a degree in aviation business management at Marywood University. Mike’s family has a strong background in aviation and military service. His father flew Army Blackhawks and his mother was jump qualified in the Army. His aunt flew in the airlines as well. Mike’s grandfather was a fixed wing Army combat pilot who flew in Vietnam, served with the Central Intelligence Agency and then became a captain for Trans world Airlines flying Boeing 707,727,747,767 series internationally. He and Mike enjoy flying together regularly and, in Mike’s words, “He shows me how an airplane is supposed to be flown.” When Mike was growing up, his grandfather would take him on some of the trips he would fly and even introduced him to the Boeing 747 full simulator and let him fly it. Mike started to really pursue flying in high school and obtained his private pilot’s license right before he departed for studies at Embry-Riddle. Mike has been a member of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators club at Embry-Riddle. He was also a starting Lacrosse player on the Riddles team and we went on to win the Florida lacrosse league championship. For winter sports, Mike is an avid snow boarder and was nationally ranked in competition. While providing flight training at TML, Mike also serves as an aviator with Archangel Airborne – a flight mission team of professional aviators, medical providers and maintenance technicians who are using aircraft to deliver critical supplies and healthcare to a town in Haiti as part of “Operation Haitian Alliance” (http://www.archangelairborne.org). |
