We take you from zero airplane experience to your first solo, and on to the coveted Private Pilot license. Our syllabus will assure you achieve all of the training required by the FAA.
Instrument Rating
While challenging, the ability to fly on instruments improves safety, reduces insurance costs, and increases opportunities for travel. You will learn the same procedures used by the airlines. When proficient, you will be able to take off and see nothing outside the window until just before landing. Our instructors are willing to fly in actual instrument conditions with students to provide crucial experience in dealing with weather. Your training will be made easier (and more cost effective!) with our FAA-certified filght simulator.
Commercial Pilot
The Commercial Pilot's License requires a minimum experience of 250 flight hours, and can be taken with or without an Instrument Rating. A complex aircraft endorsement is required, and proficiency demonstrated on the checkride. For this portion of training you will fly our Piper Comanche. This license will enable you to fly for hire under certain circumstances.
Flight Instructor
Our instructors have a background in both aviation and education, and are ideally suited to guide you through the process of becoming a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). If you are already a CFI, we can help you add an instrument rating to your instructor's license. Please plan to come to us with a spin training endorsement completed.
Complex / High Performance Aircraft
We can issue both of these endorsements in our Piper Comanche. No FAA checkride is required.
Garmin 430 / 530 GPS
GPS has become the technology of choice for navigation. But the precision of GPS comes at the price of complexity. We offer a 4-hour course in "knob-ology" that will ensure you know which buttons to push, which knobs to turn, and when. Course includes 3 hours of ground instruction and 1 hour of flight simulator time.
VFR Ground School
Everything you need to know to pass the FAA written exam, and more. This is a 12-session course, usually with a class of 3-5 students. At the end of the course your logbook will be endorsed to take the exam, which you can do at our Laser Grade Testing Center.
Co-Pilot by Choice
Does your husband, wife, or friend fly? Learn to assist them in the cockpit, and take over in an emergency. You'll learn about navigation, radio communications, basic aircraft control, and how to execute an emergency landing. 3 hours of ground instruction and 3 hours of flight training are included in this package.
Flight Adventures
Have you ever wanted to fly around the Statue of Liberty? Visit an operating Air Traffic Control tower? Or just fly out for lunch? We can make it happen with trips to fun and educational destinations designed to highlight the utility of general aviation aircraft. These flights count as cross-country flight training toward your next rating, and will improve your ability to fly in the "real world".
Fear of Flying
Do you sweat at the thought of boarding an airliner? We can help. This is an individualized course, designed to educate the non-pilot about the flight environment. Our staff has experience in putting nervous flyers at ease, and providing experiences that demonstrate exactly what is happening when you fly. Taking control of our airplane under expert flight instruction will help you take control of your flight fears. This course includes both ground and flight instruction.
